Now that you’ve become a merciless editor, or at least you are trying, it’s high time to find a few minutes to revise your writing and make sure that every sentence leads the reader in the right direction. Ask yourself if a particular sentence keeps up your point of view or just takes up space on the paper; if it follows from the previous sentence and leads into the next one; if topics and headings are clear, etc.
Revising your paper allows you to take a look at the contents from a reader’s viewpoint. The process of revision should take the time approximate to what you’ve spent on writing.
