Write! v1.5.0 Gives You More Focus

After a few weeks of silence, we are proud to announce the release of another version of Write!. It includes the new feature that enhances your concentration on text, synchronization of dictionaries and some bug fixes.

Focus Mode

Focus mode fades out all paragraphs, except for the one you are currently working on, helping you stay in the flow and focus only on the place where the typewriter is. Open Write! in Full Screen along with Focus Mode, pin it to top and there will hardly be a thing that will distract you from writing process.

In order to enable/disable Focus Mode, go to the Menu > View > Enable/Disable Focus Mode or use the Ctrl+Shift+F shortcut. Here is how it looks:

Synchronization of Dictionaries

This feature syncs the words you add to dictionary across all your devices within a single account. For example, if you add a new word on your home PC, it will be synced to your account and added to other devices.

Apart from adding the features, we have squashed some bugs that affected the stability of Write!.

As usually, feedback and suggestions are much appreciated.

  • I really like this feature. I actually used it for a presentation, where I used my Write! doc instead of slides. The highlighted paragraph pops out from the rest as I scroll through my points.

  • Thanks for implementing focus mode. It is working perfectly and is satisfying to use. It has the added bonus of making your words that little bit more private when writing in public.

Just to let you know that I had a problem installing the update from 1.4.0 to 1.5.0 from within the application. Clicking the little install icon at the bottom right opened a ‘later’ or ‘restart’ dialog box. Selecting restart seemed to just close the application. After waiting about 5 minutes before re-opening write the application had not updated.

I had to go to your website, download and install the update manually. Not sure why this would be. This was on an Asus Zenboox UX305 (win 10 64 bit, core m processor)

    • Thanks for your comment and for letting us know about the problem with the updater.
